The Rain blesses us in many unexpected ways

Yesterday morning we woke up to the pouring rain, it was wonderful. All the kids in the area always ride bikes and walk to school, but not this morning. Ethan being excited about the rain grabbed his coat and his bike and was on his way to school, he being excited to ride in the rain. I stopped him and told him he would be way too wet by the time he got to school, so I would drive him. I went to Ethan's school yesterday morning to help with eye testing (because I'm a great Doctor) anyways and I too wanted to walk in the rain I grabbed my umbrella (this was after I dropped Ethan off) but seeing that I would be late because the morning was off schedule because of the rain, so I jumped in the car and drove instead.

Now the path we always walk and ride on to school and riding around town in general is down 100 north which is a pretty little street with a nice tree lined sidewalk on one side and the local fire dept and police station on the other. About a week ago Kaden, Porter and I where taking a morning bike-ride and the boys stopped in the middle of one of the neighbors driveway and talked to the lady who came out of the house, it took me a minute to catch up I was walking. She asked the boys to move out of the driveway because her husband needed to pull in. I saw a black truck start to pull in then he saw the boys and backed up and parked on the street. I apologized to him and told him thank you. He was very nice and smiled and said "No Problem", and waved by to the boys. Stay with me this is going somewhere. Anyways the day of the rain I came home from the school and found that 100 north was blocked off with several cars, the SWAT team and lots of spectators. I thought Oh great I left Porter and Kaden with our really sweet soft spoken neighbor lady, she apparently couldn't handle them and now they have done something really bad. Fortunately the boys were being good and all was well at the baby-sitters. The nice man in the black truck that we spoke to a week earlier was fighting with his wife right before school and started shooting a gun. I called Karl and told him "Honey were home". We thought we were back in South Phoenix. This man is a part-time firefighter and his wife is a teacher at the Jr. High and his ten year old son goes to school and scouts with Ethan. As the day unfolded the Little town of Farmington was just beside themselves, nothing like this happens here. I was told by three different neighbors that there are no snakes of violence here. Well the first week we were here we found a snake in our backyard and now the sixth week this.
Well the man stayed in his truck for over twelve hours with a couple of guns. I just couldn't get past the group of little old ladies at the end of the street with their binoculars. The mothers with their babies in strollers and the traffic jam of people trying to get a glimpse of what was going on. It was seriously a community event. The school was in semi-lock down and we got a call from the school saying no one was allowed to leave the school that lived in our area unless a parent came and checked them out. So last night at 9 o'clock pm I thought lightning hit our house. There was a huge bang that scared me out of my seat. So I ran to the back porch window and It happened again a huge explosion, loud and bright. Then I could hear the cops yelling, thing like " get back boys, get back" then another explosion. These where bombs they use to try to deafen, and blind the criminal. As Karl quickly joined me we could here the man yell stuff about his wife and then it really got bad. More bombs about ten of them, they made me shake they were so loud and scary. Then the gun fire started, Karl being the man he is thought it was cool identifies the names of the guns as they were shot. Between the guns shooting, the bombs and the men yelling things like " don't run, stop don't move, Drop your gun, I said drop your gun, don't move, put your weapon down, one more chance put your weapon down". I didn't realize our backyard was so close to the suspects backyard. There are some big trees so we couldn't see anything, but I asked Karl could a stray bullet come our way, He said "oh yeah", so why the heck our we leaning out the back window was my thought. So last rumor that I heard was that the man Brian Wood had shot himself in the chest and in critical condition. I feel really bad for the wife and son. I was pretty shaken up all night, Kathleen said that would make a perfect blog, we are thankful for the rain. Otherwise Ethan and I would have both walked right past the Woods home during the fight and gunfire that morning. Let's hope today is less eventful.

Happy Birthday Kellie

So Kellie and I were talking the other day about how she wanted to start blogging but just didn't have time or the know how, but this was something she has been wanting to do for a long time now. So me, being a good sister said, I'll make you a blog for your birthday, in which Kellie replies, "You're the best sister ever! I couldn't ask for a better gift, or sister!!" (this is Kathleen by the way, sorry Kim)

So Kellie, this blogs for you. If anyone has any cute pictures of Kellie or funny/embarrassing stories I would love to post them for her, after all this is what she wants.
